Aquanest is a design for an aquatic center located in the heart of the Bywater district of New Orleans. This project focuses undermining the building and glorifying the site, ultimately blurring the line between the outside and inside. The fluid spaces created are all connected by a porous canopy inspired from nests. The corner condition of the site is treated as an exterior landscape entity that blurs the line between the building and the passing pedestrian. Ultimately, this project focuses on prioritizing the entirety of the site to generate fluidity between neighboring spaces, rather than glorifying the edifice. In doing this, the exterior amenities remain easily available to the public.
